RALLY REPORT FOR TRIKEFEST 2017

Well we pulled another Trikefest out of the bag, this was one of our toughest yet with our venue undergoing major redevelopment works. True to the spirit of Trikes R Us we pulled together and worked around all the obstacles they threw at us. The biggest being the reduced camping area which left us with no option but to reduce our normal limit of 500 to 350 and prebook only.

We arrived on site on the thursday to get the site set up and ready for the gates opening on the Friday. The control tent and tea tent went up in new positions but once up looked good. The field got marked out with lanes to allow safe camping and the caterer turned up so he could get all his stuff set up too. Time for a drink or two before the gates open tomorrow.

Friday did not get off to a good start for NIcky, she lost her phone. She was sure it was on the table by little Kev's chair but no matter where we looked we could not find it. The mystery was solved the following day though when the toilets got emptied...... Rally goers started turning up early and a contanst stream of trikes and bike kept us busy all day. As the day went on the camp site started filling up, tents n trikes n bike and beer cans. Thankyou all for following directions and the way you all managed and sorted yourselves out. The Friday night band, one of the club favourites, Carnival went down well and help Kenya spring a surprise on Dave for his birthday. Kenya then got a surprise from Paddy and now Dave is going to 'have an irishman in the family'.

Saturday still saw people arriving but most of you had made it by dinner and the custom show was started early afternoon. The show was well attended and thankyou all for your carefull riding given the tightness of the area. Once the custom show entries had cleared away the silly games commenced. The trick trike is a firm favourite but we also had many people try their had at the anvil throwing, silly bikes, hungry hippos, silly sticks and not to forget the tug-o-war, the kids won as usual. (the photographers, Cowboy and Sega would like to thankyou for not running them over this year, see you can miss us) The band this evening was Let There Be DC and they went down really well even if people did keep sneaking off to the photo booth which was much enjoyed again this year. The custom show winners where announced and the trophy's presented, well done to the winners and all who took part.

Sunday is chill out or join the ride out. The ride out this year was a trip into the past, we took you to Harolds cafe on the A17, our previous rally site that we grew out of. Unfortuneately one tirike had to drop out and return due to overheating in the queues at Kings Lynn but for the rest Harold had a little treat waiting. He fired up some of his military vehicles and took people for joy rides around the cafe. A few people were upset the guns weren't loaded, you know who you are, but lets face it most of us shouldn't be let loose with water pistols. Back to the site for the final evening chilling out or if you had the energy left dancing the evening out with the disco.

Monday and major monday morning blues (or hangovers) and the prospect of clearing everything back away and saying farewell to all of you who made it through the weekend. To all you who made it , thankyou, we put the rally on but its all of you who make it so great.

As the Chairman I would also like to thank all the Trikes R Us members for their support the past year and for all your hard work at the rally and well done.

Ged (chairman)
